Why so much fishing?

Growing up in a rural part of Florida, there just isn't a whole lot to do.  I spent most of my childhood exploring the woods and swamps of Mandarin.  Mandarin has since been completely swallowed by the Jacksonville sprawl, but I digress.

We spent a lot of time fishing.  We fished anywhere and everywhere.  We even carried fishing rods in our cars and trucks in case we stumbled across a new spot while out and about.  I can't tell you how many times we were chased off of golf courses and out of office parks for fishing in the ponds.  To this day, the biggest largemouth bass I have ever caught came from a golf course pond not much bigger than the turn around at the end of your average cul-de-sac.

Because fishing was such a big part of our lives growing up, it's going to be a recurring theme.  Don't worry, they aren't actually about fishing.  Sit back, relax and enjoy.

Adding to the chum slick.
